As part of the national Council for Economic Education’s EconomicsInternational program, Uruguay is partnering with the U.S. in developing their own economic education programs. The purpose of this delegation’s visit is to learn how strategic partnerships in Illinois and other states enable effective economic education programs, and to discuss plans for the growth of their own economic education programs in Uruguay.
The visiting team from Uruguay are representatives of the Uruguayan Ministry of Education:
- Ana Maria Olivera Recarte, National History Inspector
- Graciela Raquel Delfino Sanchez, National Math Teacher Supervisor
- Rosario Caticha, National Inspector of History and Economics
The delegation was hosted in Chicago and Northern Illinois by Econ Illinois. While here, they met with teachers, education leaders, business leaders, and board and staff members of Econ Illinois. Prior to their visit in Illinois, the delegates spent four days visiting in Oshkosh, Wisconsin as guests of the Center for Economic Education at UW-Oshkosh. They also spent a few days in Washington, DC, where they shared their study tour experiences and the economic education work in their country with members of Congress.
