DeKalb County Challenge
The DeKalb County Challenge, a special pull-out of the SMG program, was initiated by Econ Illinois in 2007 to increase exposure of Econ Illinois programs in the home base of the Northern Illinois University community; to provide visibility to the excellence of area teachers and schools; to provide learning opportunities for area students and to facilitate a school/business connection. Sponsorship for this program was provided by Edward Jones Investments and Castle Bank.
During the Spring 2010 competition, eleven teachers in eight DeKalb County schools registered 116 teams of students, with three to five students per team. Over 400 students participated.
A celebration of the first and second place teams was held at Sycamore High School the morning of May 21. In the afternoon, the third place DeKalb High School team was recognized in their classroom. Students and their teachers received medals, certificates and gift bags.
